During their January meeting, the Panorama School Board discussed technology in the district.
Superintendent Kasey Huebner says that the Board approved the first reading of their artificial intelligence (AI) policy. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio this is a necessary precaution.
“Artificial intelligence is not going away and we need to have some safeguards in place. As these tools continue to become more popular, we want to make sure that our kids are safe.”
Huebner mentions that this is a policy that all school districts are working on to make sure that students are safe when using it, and from the harms of AI. He adds that this includes working with children to make sure personal information isn’t shared, and that falsified or untrue images are not created as well, and to make sure that when AI is used, it is done so appropriately.
