An annual fundraiser takes place tonight for a habitat organization.

Fred Long, with the Greene County Gobblers of the National Wild Turkey Federation, says their banquet begins with a meal served by Lidderdale Country Store at 7pm at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds. He points out that prior to the live auction starting after the meal, there will be several games and raffles where attendees can win a variety of prizes, including firearms. He notes that there will also be a silent auction and the live auction features over 40 items.

Long emphasizes a main highlight of the evening is the Iowa Wild Turkey Federation’s own branded bourbon from a distillery in Spencer, Iowa that can only be found at an NWTF event.

Long explains that the proceeds from this fundraiser goes to the national organization, which a portion is then allocated back to the Iowa board to decide on projects to do in partnership with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and County Conservation Boards to purchase public hunting land and improve habitat areas.

Tickets are $50 each, which includes a membership, $65 for a couple, $20 for youth 17 and younger and anyone from another NWTF group is $20. Doors open at 5:30pm and a limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
