An organization has opened its scholarship application cycle and students in Greene County are encouraged to apply.

The Northwest Iowa League of Cities is awarding up to five $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors in its 27 county territory for those seeking a career in municipal service. The organization says those post-secondary options include public administration, water and wastewater operations, law enforcement, firefighting, emergency medical services, city planning, and public engineering. 

Northwest Iowa League of Cities points out that application forms are available at city halls or by emailing Angela Duitsman at angela@fondaiowa.com. The deadline to submit a scholarship application is April 15th. Greene County is part of the 27 Iowa counties included in the Northwest Iowa League of Cities.
