The Dallas County Supervisors will hold the second of five public meetings about next month’s bond referendum tonight in Perry.
The goal of the public information meetings is to discuss the proposed county administration building in Adel new sheriff’s office and law enforcement center in east Adel.
Board of Supervisors Chairman Kim Chapman says fact of the matter is the county keeps growing and that’s not expected to stop any time soon.
Both projects will show up as separate issues on the November 4th general election ballot. The administration building carries a cost of $11.8 million, or $0.19 per $1,000 of property valuation. The law enforcement center and jail will cost an estimated $0.25 per $1,000. If both are approved, someone in Dallas County who owns a $100,000 home for example will see a $44 tax increase each year.
The issues need a 60% super majority in order to pass.
Tonight, everyone is invited to the Brady Library at Perry High School at 7pm.
Remaining public meetings will take place in Redfield tomorrow, Waukee next Tuesday and Adel on the 28th.
