Thanks to the Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) Pork in the Pantry initiative, a non-profit working in Guthrie County will be able to provide pork for many families.
New Opportunities Family Development Coordinator for Guthrie County Rhonda Huggins mentions that in partnership with Guthrie County Quality Meats, the IPPA will be supplying the Guthrie County Food Pantry overseen by New Opportunities with 400 pounds of quality pork. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that through the program, the IPPA provides funds to local entities to be used for local food pantries. Huggins says that donations have been down, which is normal for this time of year, so this large meat donation is extremely important for the families that they serve. She adds that they are fortunate to have the support of groups like the IPPA and local pork producers, and are extremely grateful for that support.
