The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday night.

The Council set a public hearing for the fiscal year 2026-27 property tax levy, and adopted the Iowa Length of Service Award Program for the Guthrie Center Volunteer Fire Department. Compliance Officer Wes Clark shared he has City Attorney Eric Reinhart working on a letter to address multiple complaints at 907 Grand Street, and that a housing inspector with Region XII Council of Governments will be working with him regarding several complaints on the apartment building at 303 Prairie Street.

City Administrator Kris Arrasmith shared that she would be attending the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa Overnight Town forum this weekend, and that the old fire hall had taken damage recently due to a car losing control and sliding into it. She mentioned that she had received some concerns about speeding on Oak Street in the westbound lane between North 7th Street and Highway 25.
