The Perry Public Library invites families to create a patriotic scene using Peeps starting next week.

Youth Services Librarian Laura Pieper says registration for the Patriotic Peeps Diorama Contest will be open from March 9-16.

She adds that the annual contest is getting a patriotic theme this year as the library will begin to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary. Pieper explains that youth and families can create a diorama from any moment in American history using Peeps. Every participant will receive a sleeve of Peeps and a display box to get started.

“Will your Peeps be Washington and his peeps crossing the Delaware, the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration of In-Peep-endence, Harriet Tubman leading the Under-Peep Railroad, Rosa Parks taking a stand (and a seat), or astronaut Peeps reaching for the stars? American history is full of powerful stories — told by people of all backgrounds — and we can’t wait to see how you bring them to life… one Peep at a time!”

Pieper encourages families to stop in to pick up their kits early, as there is a limited supply.

Completed dioramas must be returned by March 23. Dioramas will be on display through April 6. Two winners will be announced, one by popular vote and one by Friend’s of the Perry Public Library. The winners will receive $20 in Perry Bucks.
