Mustangs girls’ track and field begins their 2026 season in Cedar Falls, one day after the boys competed in the A.D. Dickoson Relays. At the same event, the girls look to get out on the right foot inside the UNI-Dome.

DCG girls’ track competes today as the first of two indoor meets to open up the season. This indoor competition features over 100 schools, and the Mustangs are honored to be selected among the group of top-tier track and field schools.

Beginning a new season is always a challenge as much as it is exciting, especially after DCG had a runner have so much individual success last year. Piper Messerly paced the competition, winning multiple events in her sophomore year. As an upperclassman, the pressure and the spotlight remain. At state, DCG placed in the top ten, one of their best finishes in recent years. Messerly and the Mustangs look to continue their hot streak in this new year, starting in the UNI-Dome today.
