The Greene County Lamb Producers are hosting their annual fundraiser this Saturday.
According to Lamb Producer member Kasandra Hedges, their event takes place at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds starting at 6:30pm. She says the meal will feature a lamb entree, along with sides from Jefferson Hy-Vee. Hedges notes that they will also recognize the 2025 Greene County Fair award winners in the lamb and sheep categories, before moving into the live auction that has lots of items to bid on, including sponsoring trophies for the upcoming county fair, banners and buckles, among other items.
Hedges points out that they raised $5,400 last year, which was used toward the new Greene County Gamble event in the summer, along with supporting the new permanent concrete backdrop at the fairgrounds. She states that their non-profit organization also gives $250 scholarships to graduating seniors who showed sheep at the county fair, as well as their biggest project of the Community Lamb Barn program. Hedges says the project was started 13 years ago and continues to be funded by the Lamb Producers as a way for kids who don’t have access to lambs or a place to keep and show at a fair.
Hedges adds that tickets to the banquet and auction are $20, which can be purchased from any Lamb Producer Board member or at the door.
