The Paton Public Library is hosting its annual Breakfast Fundraiser on Saturday.
Library Director Kimberly Bohnet says biscuits and gravy will be served from 8-10:30am from the Loren Shriver Community Center. She notes that the free-will donation meal also has a grab and go option as well.
Bohnet points out that the proceeds from the fundraiser goes toward new materials and programs for the library. She details that last year, they made $1,339 and that helped to purchase new books for readers of all ages, including new fiction, children’s books and popular titles that patrons ask for. Bohnet notes that the funds were also used to provide supplies and activities during the Kids Summer Reading Program, so young people can stay engaged in reading when school is on summer break.
Bohnet adds that they are incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful and supportive community, and it shows with events like this how people value having a strong library. She says libraries are more than a place to check out books in a smaller community, it is also a welcoming place for kids and adults to hang out and spend time together, read and participate in activities.
