The Mustangs boys track and field team wraps up a busy week in Ames on the campus of Iowa State University. DCG spent Thursday and Friday competing at the Iowa Association of Track Coaches Indoor Championships for their third competition of the past week.
The Mustangs had four athletes in three races, one jump, along with five relays in the finals. Darrien Walker was up first in the 60m hurdles and sprinted his way to a 5th place finish with a time of 8.35. In the 400m, Hudson Rude went up against stout opponents and came up short in 18th with a time of 54.53. Now, in the long-distance races, Graham Ibeling kept his stride to the tune of 9:20.26, which earned him 7th. At the high jump, Chris Opoku-Sekyere also placed 7th with a height of 5-11.
In the relays, the 4×100, 400, and 800 teams were all outside the top ten. The 1600m sprint medley group did well, just scraping by for a 10th-place finish. The 4x60m shuttle hurdle squad did the best, racing their way to a time of 33.29 to earn themselves 5th place.
Mustangs boys track and field is in action next two weeks from tomorrow at Timberline School.
