There are some Easter Egg Hunts happening today and next Saturday in Greene County.
The People for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) of Greene County is hosting a hunt for canines at 1pm at the Rotary Centennial Dog Park, next to the Community Animal Shelter. Organizers say that there will be plastic eggs that contain dog treats and the canine that finds the golden egg will win a grand prize. The entry fee is $5 and the proceeds will go back to the PAWS for the care of the animals at the shelter.
Additionally, the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department and the Jefferson Kiwanis Club are co-sponsoring their hunt outside of the Greene County Community Center. According to JPRD Assistant Director Lyndsey Wathen, the toddlers will be on the south lawn, kindergarten and first grade will be on the east side, and second and third graders are on the north side. She points out that there are about 2,000 eggs for kids to get. Registration begins at 3:30pm and the hunt starts at 4pm. Pre-registration is requested, but not required. Contact the community center at 515-386-3412 to sign up.
There are two additional egg hunts happening next Saturday in Greene County as well.
Abundant Life Ministries is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at 11am next Saturday, which will be for newborns to 11 year olds. According to the organization, there will also be free train rides, along with free hotdogs, chips and drinks while supplies last, and giveaways for those that enter.
Finally, the Grand Junction Fire and Rescue will host an egg hunt next Saturday. Terry Hoefle, with the fire and rescue unit, says children ages one to nine years old are to meet at the city park for registrations at 12:30pm and the hunt begins at 1pm. He points out that there will be separate areas for different age groups to find eggs.
