The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Soccer Teams hosted Gilbert on Monday from Tiger Stadium in Adel, with the girls capturing two late goals to secure a 2-2 tie, but the boys dropped their match 1-0.

In the girls contest, a penalty was called against ADM approximately five minutes into the game, giving Gilbert senior Madisen Powers a penalty shot and she was able to find the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. That advantage would remain most of the contest until ADM had a corner kick with under 10 minutes left in the game, which was ultimately put in by sophomore Anna Schwarte off a deflection to tie the game at 1-1 with 9:33 remaining.

However, a minute and a half later, Powers would notch her second goal of the game to give Gilbert the 2-1 lead back. The Tigers would not back down, as ADM freshman Riley Odam came storming down the field to tally the game-tying goal with a little over six minutes left, and the contest would end in a 2-2 tie.

With that mark, ADM goes to 2-2-1 on the season (0-1-1 inside the Raccoon River Conference), and Gilbert falls to 1-0-2 (0-1-1 RRC).

On the boys side, ADM was looking for their second victory of the year, facing an undefeated Gilbert squad, coming in at 3-0. Both Tiger teams played great defense, not allowing a single goal in the first half. Neither goalie was letting any loose balls behind them, but Gilbert broke through about 16 and a half minutes into the second half.

A corner kick was awarded to Gilbert, and put into action by sophomore William Youngberg, which then caused congestion around ADM’s net, leaving scoring opportunities for seniors Mitch Walter and Preston Stensland, who (Stensland) eventually was able to punch it past ADM senior goalie Owen Royer for the 1-0 lead.

ADM wasn’t able to score in the final 23 minutes, falling 1-0 to Gilbert. With the loss, ADM falls to 1-4 in the early season (0-1 RRC), while Gilbert climbs to 4-0 overall (1-0 RRC).

The ADM Girls Team will host Dowling Catholic on Friday, and the boys will travel to play Dallas Center-Grimes on the road Friday night.
