Adel-DeSoto-Minburn junior Abby Asche recalls the special opportunity that the Tigers had to play in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union State Soccer Tournament a year ago.
ADM is five games into the 2026 season, sitting at 2-2-1, as they posted a record of 12-7-1 last year. During the 2025 post season, the Tigers beat Atlantic 7-0 in the Class 2A Regional Semifinal Round, then defeated Spencer 3-0 in the championship game to advance to the state tournament in Ames.
From there, ADM won a competitive 2-1 battle versus Independence in the first round, but then the Tigers’ season would end in the next match against Waverly-Shell Rock 3-1. Asche, who was a sophomore at the time, shares that she enjoyed every bit.
“Really exciting. I think that it was really fun. It got my adrenaline going a lot before each game, but it was definitely nerve-wrecking, but I think we did well.”
Asche realizes the makeup of this year’s team is different than last season, especially with six seniors that graduated. However, she states that the focus this year is to steadily improve and have fun while doing it.
The Tigers are gearing up to host the ADM Soccer Showcase in Adel tomorrow, as the Tigers will face off against Dowling Catholic at 5:30pm.
