
The Paton-Churdan track and field squads were at the East Sac County Coed track & field meet on Friday night. It was quite a weather change from nearly ideal conditions on Thursday in Guthrie Center where the Rockets took part in the ACGC meet.
Warm weather gave way to a cold front and strong winds on Friday afternoon. The Rockets were seventh among seven girls’ teams in Sac City with 22 points. Newell-Fonda was first, just ahead of the host Raiders, 135-130. On the boys’ side, Ridge View (Holstein) was first at 166 and the Rockets placed sixth among nine teams with 65 points.
P-C’s Trevon Keely won the 200 meter dash in 23.96 seconds. He did not high jump after clearing the bar on Thursday at 6′ 7″, meeting the Blue Standard for Drake Relays automatic qualifying. Patrik Wolterman threw the discus 116′ 11″, good for second place. Shane Kiley claimed second in the high jump at 5′ 4″, while Blaise Schilling was second in the long jump with a best leap of 19′ 1/4″.
The Rockets had no girls place first or second in scoring events.
