Board Member Lynn Ubben says 32 projects were funded totaling around $160,000. She adds that a variety of projects received funds in communities across Dallas County, including Adel, Perry and Redfield.
Ubben explains that around $50,000 of the total grant funds came from the Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation. Those funds were split between four large projects, including Dallas Conservation’s Voas observation deck accessible ramp, Perry High School softball batting cages, extrication gear for Granger Fire and EMS and auditorium lights and sound upgrades at Woodward-Granger High School.
Ubben talks about what she has enjoyed about serving on the foundation board for the past nine years.
“I was on the Henry County Foundation Board in 2005, when the state of Iowa first decided that some of this gambling money should go to the counties. So it’s been fun to see the evolution over the last 26 years. The last nine have been on Dallas County Foundation and it’s been great to see how much it’s grown, how many grants we’re able to give out to everyone in Dallas County, we have quite a variety. And of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t remind people to donate to the Dallas County Foundation, because your money goes all over Dallas County. And there’s very few things you can donate to that can have that type of an impact all over the county. Hopefully more people will donate, and we’ll get more grants next year.
