The Perry City Council met in regular session on Monday.
The council heard a special presentation from Cheri Scheib about a proposed bike chandelier to be located along the Raccoon River Valley Trail. The council also heard a special presentation from three members of Broc Sorensen’s Perry High School marketing and business classes. The students, along with a representative from Drake University, spoke about a marketing campaign aimed at promoting businesses along the Raccoon River Valley Trail.
Four community members spoke during the open forum to express concerns over safety and noise from a shooting range located on the northwest side of Perry. City Administrator Sven Peterson said in his report that the city had not been made aware of the range and as the property is outside of city limits, he passed on information to Dallas County.
Items on the agenda that were approved included adopting the fiscal year 2027 budget, following a public hearing, temporary construction and permanent public utility easements and ordering bids for the 1,500 foot parallel taxiway extension.
Other items on the agenda that were approved included resolutions for insurance renewal with The Hartford Insurance Policy for city employees, submission of a Community Catalyst Building Remediation Grant Application to IEDA and authorizing the submission of an application for the Iowa Department of Transportation airport funding.
