Hunters in west-central Iowa are poised to enjoy what should be a very exciting pheasant hunting season. Todd Bogenschutz with the Iowa DNR says roadside counts of the bird are the highest they’ve been in six years. Pheasant season opens on Saturday, and Guthrie County is home to some excellent public hunting grounds, notably the S.E. Robinson Area around Panora.
