As spring progresses, farmers are getting back into their fields to plant this year’s crops.
Guthrie County Sheriff Matt Harmann reminds those using the roads that there are some things to keep in mind to make sure that everyone stays safe on the road during this time. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that drivers should always double check for any slow moving farm implements, be careful around anhydrous tanks, and pass only in legal passing zones.
Harmann mentions that drivers should also be aware of field drives, as farmers may not have turn signals to show they are turning, to be aware of vehicles pulling implements or trailers as they make wide turns, and also reminds farmers that if they are pulling implements or trailers they also need to keep in mind that they will need to make those wide turns. He adds that individuals should also not try to pass implements or slow moving vehicles on bridges or hills, and that drivers should always use caution at uncontrolled intersections, or intersections without road signage.
