Adel-DeSoto-Minburn sophomore Madison Gelhaar will be making an appearance tonight on the Raccoon Valley Bank Dallas County PM Sports Magazine on KDLS to discuss the 2026 golf season.
Gelhaar shares that she grew up in a family of golfers, especially from her grandpa, who encouraged her to take lessons. She emphasizes that learning under her high school coach Dana Brown has been wonderful because Gelhaar says that she can execute a team really well and is super supportive of all the girls. She reveals that the biggest mental roadblock that she is battling through is the comparison aspect of golf.
“Because in golf, you get compared to your teammates, you get compared to everyone on the other teams, and just knowing that everyone goes at their own pace is something that I struggle with.”
Gelhaar identifies a goal of hers this season was to earn a varsity medal, which she was able to accomplish in the Woodward-Granger match on April 16th. She adds that she is super close with all the girls on the ADM squad. The Tigers will play in their next meet tomorrow at the Nishna Hills Golf Club in Atlantic, starting at 10am.
The full interview with Gelhaar can be heard tonight during the Raccoon Valley Bank Dallas County PM Sports Magazine on KDLS 94.3/99.7 FM and AM 1310, beginning at 6pm. The program features sports content from Perry and Dallas Center-Grimes High Schools.
