The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is highlighting a department that isn’t often in the spotlight.
National Correctional Officers and Employees Week is being celebrated from May 3-9. Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante says the week is a good time to highlight the jobs that jailers do.
“The one that doesn’t get paid much attention is the correctional staff in our jail. These are hard-working professionals. The biggest liability that the county has is the jail, so these people are absolution professionals at what they do. They have a lot of laws with the state code they have to follow and federal laws. They’re always training and getting legal updates, so that we are providing the most up-to-date care for our inmates that we can.”
Infante adds that much of that work is done behind-the-scenes and that National Correctional Officers and Employees Week is a good time to highlight them.
