As summer approaches, a group in Guthrie County is preparing for competition season.
Guthrie County Swim Club Board President Jacob Kent says that the team has seen much success in recent years. He tells Raccoon Valley radio more about how well the team has done.
“We won the conference swim meet two out of the last three years. And these are against towns that are quite larger than ours. Carroll is a part of our swim conference. Perry, Sac City, Jefferson / Green County. These are bigger groups that pull in from a lot of different areas. We have held our own. And I think we’ve only lost one head to head meet in the last five or six years, so it’s been a long string of success.”
Kent mentions that they’ve had great numbers as well, with 109 participants last year, along with a lot of parent support as well. He adds that for those looking to sign up for the team, the first meeting was held May 3rd, but that those interested can register through their website.
