An organization that serves Greene County is inviting anyone who is impacted by sexual assault to join a new group.
Assault Care Center Extending Shelter Services (ACCESS) Rural Sexual Abuse Advocate for Boone and Greene Counties Danielle Janssen says the Sexual Assault Support Group will have meetings for multiple weeks virtually every Tuesday from 11:30am-12:30pm, starting tomorrow.
“And this is open to anyone who’s ever experienced any kind of sexual assault. You don’t have to work with ACCESS, you don’t have to accept our services and you don’t have to be living within our five counties either. If you’re someone who believe this would help you feel free to also send me an email and I can get you setup with that.”
According to ACCESS, this support group offers a safe environment for survivors to connect, heal and receive guidance on their journeys. There will also be topics covered during each session and survivors can share as much or as little as they want.
Additionally, Janssen notes that they are also bringing back the Greene County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. She advises any community partners or agencies can be a part of that. Janssen explains that the Coalition will review problems or struggles within the county, discuss legislative actions with law enforcement, their organizations and hospitals and how to work together to bring more awareness in the communities.
Janssen requests anyone interested in joining the support group or if there is a community partner or agency that wants to be a part of the Coalition, to contact her via email at Danielle@assaultcarecenter.org
