
Colfax-Mingo hosted an 18 hole boys’ golf tournament at the Colfax Country Club on Friday with Greene County finishing third among six teams. Coach Kyle Kinne’s Rams shot 344 on a good day weather-wise for golf in what was the regular season finale for the Rams. Pleasantville shot 333 with Boone at 342. Newton’s JV shot the same 344 score the Rams had, with a 357 from Pella Christian, and 401 for the host Tigerhawks.
Sophomore Connor McAndrews led the Rams at 84, followed by sophomore Keaton Hinote at 85, followed by senior Drew Wolterman at 87, and 88 for senior Nathan Towers.
The Greene County coach told Raccoon Valley Radio it was a rough, rough course and the players weren’t used to it. “The other teams are good and their scores show the difficulty of the course. Connor McAndrews had our best score and shot really well He bounced back on a couple tough breaks. Proud of him. Kids Battled today after getting home late (Thursday) night and having to leave really early this (Friday) morning. We are off until Sectionals next week with high hopes.”
The Rams play on Wednesday, May 13 at 10 a.m. on the Buena Vista Golf Course at Lake Creek Country Club at Storm Lake in a Class 3A Sectional Tournament.
