The Greene County Board of Supervisors met on Monday in regular session.

During reports, County Engineer Wade Weiss said the concrete crushing on County Road E-26 from the city of Dana to the Boone County line is going well. He anticipates the new pavement to begin mid to late June and then crews will begin installing new pavement on County Road P-46 in August.

The Board then heard from Jefferson City Administrator Scott Peterson. He said the farm fuel project at the Municipal Airport is progressing well, with the anticipated completion date of June 15th. He also mentioned that, pending city council approval, a new Water Superintendent will be hired as the city has been without one for six to eight months. Peterson stated that July 1st is the bidding date for the Westwood Drive sidewalk project, which is slated to be completed in September of 2027. He added that a groundbreaking ceremony will take place in June for the new apartment complex with KCG Companies.

The Board held a public hearing for three easement accesses for Red Lion Renewables to install solar panels for a power purchase agreement. Following the hearing, the Board approved access to the new jail, the main Secondary Roads Department shop in Jefferson and three parcels at Spring Lake Park.

Next, the Board approved the final renderings for the Schoolboy Soldiers of Rippey monument and plaque for the individuals that fought in the Civil War. The Board also approved two resolutions to transfer funds from tax increment financing to debt service for $703,642 for the Greene County Career Academy and $773,090 for the first phase of the county road repaving projects.

Additionally, the Board approved a resolution to hire Luke Shipley as a part-time driver for the Ambulance Department, with an hourly wage of $12 that was effective April 17th. It was mentioned that once Shipley completes the Emergency Medical Technician training, he will move to an as needed EMT.

The Board also approved to renew an annual alcohol license for Apres Bar Company at The Era Wedding Venue and a three-year contract agreement with Cost Advisory Services for reimbursement of indirect costs from the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.

Finally, the Board acted as the Drainage District Board of Trustees and approved $5,480 to Central Iowa Drainage for repairs in DD47, along with $1,350 to AgriVia for engineering services in DD47, contract documents for DD2- and Watchman work in April. They also approved an invoice to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship for two wetland projects for $4,400 to be reimbursed from IDALS to the Drainage Districts, as a pass through, to AgriVia.
