There is an important deadline coming up on Friday.

Adair County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Youth Coordinator Caroline Savage says that animal identification forms must be submitted by anyone intending to exhibit livestock at the Iowa State Fair or Adair County Fair.

“All animals planning on coming to the fair need to be identified by May 15th in order to be eligible to show. This includes everything except for rabbit, poultry, and cats. So if you have a dog, a horse, sheep, goat, swine, whatever it may be, those animals must be identified by May 15th in order to be eligible.”

Savage notes that the window for 4-H registration closes this Friday as well. This deadline applies to both new and returning members, who must complete their enrollment by then. She adds that individuals interested in joining the 4-H program can sign up through 4honline.com.
