It has been a busy time for the Greene County High School Industrial Technology and SkillsUSA team.

High school senior Aden Bardole recently participated in a SkillsUSA Signing Day, where he officially committed to attending Iowa Central Community College this fall for diesel technology. He talked about why he chose that particular career field.

“It’s a big need in the industry right now and I figure I can help fill that need. It’s a lot of skills that I think I can use and hopefully use it (on) my farm, eventually.”

Bardole gave credit to the Industrial Technology teacher Ethan Martin for bringing back SkillsUSA after a few years absence, which allowed for this kind of opportunity for him to continue his education after high school.

“I was able to just join that. This year was really the first year we tried doing stuff, so there wasn’t a whole lot to do. But, (we) went to like some leadership conference and stuff like that, that it was really exciting to see other people and see the program start to build.”

Additionally, two other high school students competed at the Iowa Industrial Tech Expo, where Wesley Fiedler earned second place in Precision Measurement and Austin Stucky received second place for the Freshmen Table Project.

Finally, it was recently announced that Yaakov Gehling qualified for the National SkillsUSA Contest in Atlanta, Georgia from June 1st-4th to compete in Power Equipment Technology.
