A Paton man recently pled guilty in the 2024 killing of a two-month-old baby.
According to court documents, 28-year-old Nolan Wilson was to stand trial on Tuesday, but instead pled guilty to a Class B Felony for child endangerment resulting in death.
The guilty plea stems from an incident on September 3, 2024, when first responders went to Wilson’s home in Paton for an unresponsive baby. Court documents show that following an autopsy by the State Medical Examiner’s Office, it was determined that the baby died from head injuries from blunt force trauma. Investigators determined that Wilson was the only care provider in the 24-hours leading up to the death and Wilson was believed to have caused the injuries.
Greene County Attorney Thomas Laehn says because the charge Wilson pled guilty to is a forcible felony that has a 50 year prison sentence attached to it. He adds that Wilson can’t bond out while awaiting the sentence hearing that is scheduled for June 30th, but that the judge is allowed to set a minimum amount of time before Wilson can be eligible for parole.
