Tuesday morning will have some lively music coming from the downtown square in Jefferson.
Bell Tower Community Foundation Tour Guide Coordinator Molly Cunningham says Music and Muffins will feature the Greene County High School Band playing music from 8:30-9am on Tuesday. She talks about working with High School Band Director Wes Anderson to bring this event together.
“He’s a part of our Bell Tower Community Foundation Board and he kind of helps to represent our local schools and it was actually kind of our kind of a sub-section on that board of people who take care of our Mahanay Maestros and our music of the tower. So they kind of jumped in making an event that sort of joined out high school band and the music of the tower.”
Anderson points out that Music and Muffins is an homage to “Breakfast with the Band” from years ago when Randy Bunkers, of the former Bunkers Dunkers, would greet the band with boxes of donuts after the students marched and played music around the square.
Anderson details that the concert band students will perform on the Greene County Courthouse plaza, along with some musical selections from the jazz band. He encourages everyone to check out the event and listen to the students perform.
Cunningham adds that there will be free coffee, juice and muffins for attendees.
