The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Wednesday morning.

The Board approved a resolution for a fiscal year 2025-26 budget amendment, as well as usage of courthouse grounds by the All Iowa Republican Women, who wish to read the US Constitution in honor of America’s 250th anniversary of being a country. They then heard from Guthrie County Health Services Director Jotham Arber on a proposed update to the services agreement between the Guthrie County and Adair County Public Health Departments.

The Board also accepted the resignation of Guthrie County Attorney Dana Minteer effective May 31st. Following that, they approved filling the vacancy by appointment in the next meeting on May 26th, as well as putting out a notice to fill the vacancy, both with a vote of 4-1. Supervisor Mike Dickson was the sole no vote, as he believed that they could afford to wait the two days between the effective resignation date, and the June 2nd Primary Election to see which of the two Republican candidates won the Primary. Supervisors Brian Johnson and Maggie Armstrong both thought that filling the position as soon as possible was the better option, as it would also allow them to hire an Assistant County Attorney as well.
