A two vehicle accident resulted in heavy damage and possible injuries in Greene County.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s office around 1am on Saturday, the Sheriff’s office, Greene County Emergency Medical Services and the Jefferson, Scranton and Churdan Fire departments all responded to the scene of a two vehicle accident at the intersection of US Highway 30 and Iowa Highway 25 for the second accident in less than 24-hours.
Officials says that 20 year-old Alex Christopher Bruch of Arcadia was traveling northbound on Highway 25 in his 2001 Chevrolet Impala when he didn’t stop at the posted stop sign and was hit by an eastbound 2014 Chevrolet G1500 van on Highway 30 that was driven by 48 year-old Dean Chapman of Ames.
The Sheriff’s office reports that the fire departments had to use the Jaws of Life to take Bruch from his vehicle but he suffered non-life threatening injuries. His passengers, 19 year-old Journey Jordan Dirks, 20 year-olds Trevin Jerome Jorgensen and Cameron Hackett and a 17 year-old female minor all of Carroll were taken to the Greene County Medical Center by Greene County EMS with possible injuries. Chapman was also taken to the medical center with possible injuries. Three individuals were then Life Flighted to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
The report shows that Chapman’s van was a total loss while Bruch’s Impala had $8,000 and an Iowa Department of Transportation’s road sign was another $300 in damages.
Officials say that possible charges may be filed pending completion of the investigation.
