Attitudes are still upbeat and the vibes still positive in week two of the preseason for the ADM boys basketball team, which won its Varsity Jamboree exhibition contest against Woodward-Granger on Monday.

Last week we told you about how junior Jacob Hardy said he believes this year’s squad has a lot of potential. Head coach Aaron Mager provided more detail, saying the Hardy, along with ADM’s seniors, met with their coach and set some lofty goals for this season. The upperclassmen are shooting for 16 wins this season, which would be a 10-win improvement over last season, no small task.

“That’s a big leap for six [wins]. And I think they know that. I certainly know that,” Mager said. “You look at our schedule, there’s no patsies on there. Everybody’s competitive. Some teams are obviously better than others, or more experienced, whatever. For us to reach that goal, we’re going to have to be consistently good in practice, and then the habits just carry over to the games.”

Mager’s Tigers open the season on Tuesday at Pella Christian.
