A trial date has been set for a Churdan man accused of a felony in connection with an alcohol-related death.
According to court documents, 21 year-old Larry Varnell pled not-guilty to a Boone County Sheriff’s office charge of a Class D Felony for providing alcohol to a minor resulting in death. He will stand trial on January 13th at the Boone County Courthouse.
The charges stem from a incident on September 14th when authorities found the dead body of 20 year-old Aaron Beaman of Jefferson in the 600 block of L Avenue in Boone County.
Jefferson Police Officer Heath Enns also works part time in both the Greene and Boone County Sheriff’s offices and has been helping with the investigation. He points out that Beaman’s vehicle had several alcohol containers in it and that he had allegedly been with Varnell the day of the accident.
Varnell is also charged in Greene County with misdemeanors for providing alcohol to a minor, driving with a suspended license, failure to file SR 22 and possessing an open container. Court documents show that Varnell will have an arraignment hearing for the Greene County charges on December 12th.
