Stuart Rescue Explorer Post #3924, is currently doing a unique fundraiser that could help get you out of a bind. The explorers are selling first aid kits to anyone interested. The kits are $10 and proceeds to toward the exploration program, that allows young men and women who have an interest in learning more about the Emergency Medical Services industry get hands on experience.
The educational training program provides career orientation experiences, leadership opportunities and community services activities. The primary goals of the program are to help young adults who choose a career path within EMS and to challenge them to become responsible citizens of their communities and nation. As a non-profit organization, the Explorer is always open to donations and are currently accepting applications for new youth members.
Explorer Committee Member and City of Stuart employee Nadine Avey feels this is a wonderful opportunity for young people to explore the health field without a lot of pressure. Avey hopes some of them may find this is the work they wish to follow for the rest of their life. Avey says the community definitely needs young people trained to work on our unit as some of the highly qualified older volunteers are “beginning to age out”. It’s certainly a pleasure to see the interaction with the varying ages involved in the program Avey added.
First aid kits are available from any of the explorers. For more information on the program, call Troy Armstrong at 660-591-3180.
