The Dallas County Office of Emergency Management will host their annual Severe Weather Storm Spotter Training class tomorrow evening.
The two hour class starts at 7pm at the Washington Township School building. It will be taught by a meteorologist from the National Weather Service in Johnston and touch on a variety of topics.
Emergency Management Coordinator Barry Halling says he has been attending these classes for the past 22 years and he always learns something new.
“I think it would be worth your time. The public is invited to come to these. In years past (these classes) have been mainly for first responders and those who do official storm spotting. But with all the availability, and all the ways you can contact people now, we’ve decided that maybe it’s time, if those people that are interested in the public want to come, or Ham Radio people, now would be the time to come and see what you think.”
Raccoon Valley Radio will have several staff members in attendance at the training as a refresher.
In addition to the class, the Tri-School Council will also be holding a soup supper fundraiser starting at 5:30pm for free will offerings to help support the continued restoration of the Washington Township School.
