Relay for Life of Greene County recently announced its Fight Back speakers.
Chairperson Peg Raney says the Fight Back speakers are people who are either cancer survivors or caregivers and share their stories to encourage others who are going through the same process. Last year, the format was changed to allow for a more intimate setting at various locations rather than during the main event at the Greene County Community Center. Raney adds that this year they are focusing on the importance of caregivers.
The first Fight Back speakers will be later this week with Chuck and Carla Offenburger. They will discuss their experiences of battling cancer together and how they were each other’s caregivers. It will be at Prairie Blue in Jefferson at 7pm on Friday, April 10th.
Then after the main event on Saturday, April 25th, at Homestead Coffee and Bakery in Jefferson at 7pm will be Rick and Kathy Morain. Rick will share his story of battling cancer and how his wife Kathy was his caregiver.
Both events are free and open to the public.
