A joint committee containing representatives from the Guthrie Center City Council, Guthrie County Board of Supervisors and Sheriff’s Office continues to make progress in making edits to a proposed 28E agreement for the County to provide law enforcement services to the City. At a committee meeting Tuesday, changes were made which would have the city make payments for the service at the beginning of each quarter, instead of monthly. Additionally, the proposed agreement now has a 120 day termination notice period, to be used if either party is ever unhappy with the deal. A provision will be added which will require the city to provide the cost for additional law enforcement when needed for large events, such as RAGBRAI. The full Council and full Board of Supervisors will meet in the Courthouse to further discuss the proposal Thursday morning at 10:00.
