The Perry softball team didn’t get on the bus until well after 10:00 last night as the Jayettes battled through a lightning delay and a 9 inning battle losing to Bondurant Farrar 3-2 in RRC action. The Jayettes out hit the Lady Jays 8-6 and played solid defense for the second straight night committing just one error.
Perry scored single tallies in both the second and fifth innings. Emma Olejniczak delivered an RBI double while Rachel Kinney scored the other Perry run. Olejniczak finished 3-5 with a double and RBI. Freshman Alyssa Kruger added a pair of hits while Maddie Jans, Johanna Diw and Kinney all tacked on singles.
Bondurant Farrar won the game on a walk off home run in the bottom of the 9th inning.
Olejniczak struck out 10 for Perry.
“Our defense played really well tonight,” added Head Coach Tina Kenney. “Kate (Whelchel) had a double play and saved a wild throw by tagging the runner in the 8th to prevent any runners. Our offense has had much more spark the past 2 nights as well.”
Perry will host Ballard tonight in a 7:30 game at the PAC. Shawn Kenney will have the play by play on 1310 KDLS and 99.7 fm.
