A deputy checked the identity of a juvenile male at the Sparky’s One Stop in Rippey.  The juvenile was first thought to be the missing juvenile from Story County.

A deputy was advised of a semi-tractor trailer leaking some type fluid as it entered Jefferson on Highway 4 from the south. The semi was never located.

A deputy was advised of a dog running at large in the 900 block of 140th Street. The caller stated the dog had left the area and for the deputy to disregard.

A deputy was dispatched to the Union Pacific Railroad crossing on S Avenue to check the report of a large piece of concrete missing from the crossing. The Union Pacific stated that they would send a maintenance crew to check the crossing.

A deputy transported a male hitchhiker from the Greene-Boone County line to Sparky’s One Stop in Jefferson.

A deputy was advised by Hawkeye Recovery Services, that they would be repossessing a farm implement in the 2200 block of H Avenue.

Friday, July 31st

A deputy assisted the Greene County Emergency Medical Services with a medical call in the 400 block of North Grimmell Street.

A deputy was dispatched to the 1000 block of Livingston Street in Churdan to investigate the report of illegal burning.

A deputy was dispatched to the 600 block of Harding Street in Churdan to mediate a verbal family altercation.

A deputy recovered a stolen bicycle in the 400 block of 12th street in Grand Junction that was taken earlier in the day from the Greene County Intermediate School.

A deputy was advised of a dog running at large west of Jefferson on Highway 30.  The dog described was not located at that time.

A deputy was dispatched for a vehicle that was reported to be driving careless and erratic near S Avenue and 250th Street. The deputy initiated a traffic stop on that vehicle and identified and evaluated the driver.

A deputy was advised of debris on the roadway at 20th Street and J Avenue. The lumber was removed from Highway 30 before the deputy’s arrival.

A deputy assisted a motorist with a flat tire on Highway 30 near K Avenue.

A deputy located a reported motorcycle with no tail lights on U Avenue near Dana.  The deputy followed the motorcycle to his destination in Paton.

A deputy was not able to locate a reported suspicious vehicle near the Lakeside Golf Course, northbound on S Avenue.

A deputy was assisted by a Jefferson Police Officer and an Iowa State Patrol Officer in locating a suspicious person on Highway 30 that was experiencing mechanical problems with his vehicle.

A deputy was dispatched to the 1000 block of Main Street East in Grand Junction to check the report of an underage party.

A deputy was asked to check the welfare of a female resident in Scranton.

A deputy was asked to check an intoxicated camper at Spring Lake Park. The male was identified and was told to stay in his camper and to not harass other campers.

Saturday, August 1st

A deputy responded to an alarm activation at the Greene County Intermediate School in Grand Junction. The school was found to be secure.

A deputy was out of position and unable to locate a reported careless driver eastbound on Highway 30 near U Avenue. Boone County was advised of the driver.

A deputy checked the welfare of several pets in the 400 block of 9th street in Grand Junction. The deputy spoke with the owners the animals regarding the situation.

A deputy assisted a Jefferson Police Officer with traffic control after an accident at the Highway 4 and 30 intersection.

A deputy was advised by the key holder, that he could disregard an alarm activation at the People’s Trust and Savings Bank in Scranton.

A deputy assisted with a medical call on the 222nd Street, west  of J Avenue.

A deputy was advised that a missing juvenile female was found safe and back at home in Scranton.

 A deputy was dispatched to a car-deer accident that occurred on Highway 30 near K Avenue. A 2009 Mercury Milan that was being driven by Richard Donald Nagl 57, of Carroll, was westbound on 220th Street, when a deer ran onto the roadway and was struck by Nagl. Richard Nagl was not injured but his car sustained an estimated $4500 in damages.

A deputy was advised of a car-deer accident that occurred on Highway 30 at J Avenue. A 1994 Cadillac Deville being driven by Tanya Lea Tope 22, of Ames, was westbound on 220th Street when a deer ran onto the roadway and was struck by the Tope vehicle. Damage to the car was estimated to be $2000. Tanya Tope was issued a citation for Driving While Suspended.

Sunday, August 2nd

A deputy was advised of a Scranton male that had not returned home after a golf outing at the Lake Side Golf Course on Saturday. The male subject was later located after being involved in a traffic accident in Cherokee County.

A deputy was asked to check the welfare of a female in the 800 block of Percival Street in Grand Junction. She was found to be safe.

A deputy was advised of an intoxicated driver leaving the Spring Lake Park in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup that was heading for Lanesboro, Iowa.

A deputy, Greene County EMS and the Jefferson Fire Department were dispatched to single vehicle accident that occurred at the T intersection of 195th Street and Orchard Avenue. A 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup being driven by Albert John Wolfe 23, of Glidden, was westbound on 195th Street when he drove off the roadway. Wolfe struck a tree at an abandoned farm site, after driving through the T intersection at Orchard Avenue. Wolfe was transported to the Greene County Medical Center for medical attention. Albert Wolfe will be charged with Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense, Driving While Suspended, Failure to Maintain Control and No Insurance.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
