The public is invited to another town hall meeting in Jefferson next week.

Economic Development Director Ken Paxton says the public forum will be at the Greene County Community Center at 6pm on Monday, September 28th.  It will feature a panel of presenters talking about completed and upcoming development projects around the county.  This will be the third such meeting, with the last two taking place this past April and in August of 2014.  Paxton explains why they are continuing to hold town hall meetings.

“The success of the past two (town hall meetings) have been from the fact that our community is interested in what we’re doing. We have a lot of projects (and) we have a lot of opportunities.  People are interested and we want to keep them interested and more importantly, we want to keep them informed.”

Presenters include Greene County Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Carl Behne will talk about the hospital’s improvements and renovations following the completed expansion project, Scranton Manufacturing Vice-President of Operations Jim Ober will talk about their expansion, Cargill Pork General Manager and Vice-President Jane Fallon will discuss the possibility of establishing a feed mill in the county, Jefferson Matters: Main Street Program Director Peg Raney will talk about the Community Development Block Grant for downtown revitalization, the Greene County Chamber will present information about upcoming tourism events and Greene County Schools Superintendent Tim Christensen will discuss parts of the bond referendum.

Paxton adds that he would like to continue to hold town hall meetings twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall.
