The Greene County High School marching band is wrapping up the competitive part of their season tomorrow at the state marching band contest in Fort Dodge.
Director Wes Anderson says the band is coming off a first place finish at last week’s parade competition at Carroll Band Day. Saturday’s contest is slightly different in that bands don’t compete against each other for field marching, but against a point system. Anderson says there’s a maximum score of 100 points and based off how many points you get, a band receives a rating ranging between one through a five. He shares what the band’s goal is for tomorrow.
“With our score two weeks ago at Fort Dodge, we would’ve been in the upper range of a three (rating). I think we’re shooting for somewhere around 55-60 (points) this week, so that would be in the upper range of a two (rating). We should be able to really use state marching band as a good opportunity to track our success up to this point.”
Tonight will be another preview as the band will perform during the Homecoming football game.
The band will perform at 2pm at Dodger Stadium Saturday and the public is invited to cheer them on for their final field competition this season.
