We’re expected to get our first measurable snow of the year this afternoon into tonight as a winter storm warning is in effect.
Perry Public Works Department Deputy Director Josh Wuebker says their fleet of equipment is all set to go.
“We have four big dump trucks that we use for plowing and four guys that have a different route and stuff. And then we run three pickup trucks in the alleys and do the downtown, then we also have a loader, we have a John Deer tractor with a blower, and that’s how we do the downtown, we also have a haul truck, we have different tractors that do the sidewalks, just a lot of different stuff. So we make sure all that stuff is ready.”
Wuebker says the department is responsible for around 62 lane miles, though each road takes four passes to to clear from curb to curb.
As a reminder, anytime there is a snow event where more than half an inch falls, parking on city streets, alleys and parking lots is prohibited.
