Deer poaching by out of state residents continues to be a perennial problem for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
DNR Conservation Officer Jeremy King says poachers aren’t only removing trophy deer, they’re also hurting Iowa residents. “They just come up here to poach these deer. In my opinion it’s ridiculous, what they’re doing is poaching memories from first-time hunters or kids that could have shot those deer legally and had great memories of that. Those deer also could provide food for somebody.”
King will tell us more about Iowa’s poaching laws and illegal behaviors for you to watch out for when out hunting, today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
