The Jefferson Elks Lodge #2306 is once again making sure everyone enjoys holiday cheer and no one goes hungry this Christmas with a free meal.
The Elks are celebrating their 50th year of serving a free meal on Christmas Day. From their humble beginnings of serving 50 to 60 families, it has grown to over 250 meals served within the last couple of years and includes deliveries and bingo.
This year’s menu includes turkey that’s donated by Jefferson Hy-Vee, along with ham, green beans, mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy and rolls. Pumpkin pies will be provided by the Jefferson Does #196.
Doors open at 3pm on Christmas Day with the meal to be served at 4pm. Bingo will follow the meal and local businesses have donated poinsettias for prizes. Registrations are encouraged for the meals by December 21st by calling 386-2106 anytime after 4pm.
