Greene County senior Tommy Bradshaw won the 152 lbs. title on Saturday at the Guthrie Center Tiger Invitational and was named the events’ outstanding wrestler. Bradshaw went 4-0 Saturday with a first round fall, technical falls in both the quarterfinals and semifinals, and a fall in the title match, to improve to 35-0. He’s ranked second in Class 2A at 152 and he becomes the first Ram in several seasons to go through the regular season undefeated.
The Rams entered just five of the 14 weight classes and placed fifteenth among 23 teams with 53 points, more than half scored by Bradshaw. The Rams had two other place winners in senior Mark Kendall (170) who placed sixth, and junior Isaiah Yoder (160) finishing in seventh. Sophomores Cayden Gerdes (132) and Isaac Ireland (138) both went 1-2 on the day and did not place.
Next up for Greene County is the Class 2A Sectional tournament in Perry at noon on Saturday, Feb. 6. Head Coach Mark Sawhill is also hoping to have sophomore Kane Borgeson (113) and junior Hunter Ruth (195) in the Sectional lineup. The pair did not compete last week due to a nagging injury for Borgeson and illness for Ruth.
