Dean Lansman is the head boys’ track and field coach at Greene County High School. Practices continue outdoors with recent mild weather as the athletes prepare for the season. However, the Rams go indoors to start the campaign next Tuesday, March 15 at the Lied Center on the ISU campus in Ames for the ISU Classic for high school athletes. The outdoor season is slated to begin on Monday, March 28 in Jefferson at Linduska Field for the annual Greene County Early Bird Meet.
Coach Lansman said he’s pleased with the number of boys that are out. “We’re at about 30, which is exactly what we had last year. We have a couple kids who had gone out when they were younger, that decided to come back out this year, so that really filled in some spots for us we had been needing. So, we’re pretty happy about that.”
Coach Lansman said he’ll be taking a good portion of the squad to ISU.
