Spring Break is over and it’s on to the high school outdoor track & field season for the Greene County Rams. Linduska Field in Jefferson is the site of today’s Greene County Coed Early Bird Meet. Dean Lansman is the boys’ head coach and Kelly Simpson is the head coach of the girls. The Rams have 30 boys and 22 girls out for the sport, but the majority have been on vacations of some type and haven’t practiced for 10 days or so. Four voluntary workouts were held last week with Coach Lansman reporting 12-15 total athletes in attendance. Some of those gone didn’t return from a Spanish trip to Dominican Republic until late last night.

Today’s meet will not have team scoring, so getting back to competition after the layoff will be a focus of the Rams rather than what the actual performance is, especially for those that have been gone for more than a week with no practice. Today’s starting time is 4:30 p.m.

Other teams include Paton-Churdan, Guthrie Center, Woodward-Granger, CMB (Maxwell), Manson-Northwest Webster, and South Hamilton (Jewell).
