A tractor safety course, which is offered locally once every few years, will take place next month in Adair County.
Agriculture Programming Coordinator Kathy Rohrig says youth working on farms are required by law to be certified through the course. “Labor laws require that any teenager employed by a farmer to handle machinery must have completed the tractor safety course. Anyone between the ages of 14-16 years old are required to complete this course before performing such work.”
The two part course will take place Saturdays, April 9th and April 30th at the Nodaway Valley agriculture classroom. There is a $40 fee to sign up for Adair County 4-H’ers and $50 fee for others. Registrations are due to the Extension office in Greenfield by Friday.
Rohrig will tell us more about the course today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
