Those who are looking to purchase an interment space at Perry’s Violet Hill Cemetery will have to pay a little more now.

The City Council approved the increase at their meeting Monday.  City Administrator Sven Peterson explains why this was necessary.

“This is something we had to do to just clean up some of the financial things out at the cemetery and make it a little more clean cut with what’s going where.  And really, it also just puts a little more money into our general fund.  It’s only a $30 increase over what we had previously but it just makes it all a little bit smoother on the administrative and record keeping end.”

Peterson adds that the City was also required to make the change due to Perpetual Care Fund regulations by the Iowa Insurance Division.
