Perry senior Taylor Lathrum wasn’t sure she even wanted to throw the shot put when she was introduced to the sport of track and field.  Now, four years later, she is getting set to make a splash at this year’s Iowa High School State Track and Field competition in Des Moines in the shot put.

“Yeah, it really is kind of crazy.  I wasn’t a big fan of throwing when I was first introduced to it,” Lathrum laughed.  “All of a sudden I started to enjoy it and that’s when I really started to improve.  I paid a lot more attention to it and worked harder and it looks like that has all payed off for me.  I am so excited to be going to state.”
